Sisters Ankita, Vaishali Jain crack UPSC together – Here’s how they prepared to clear the CSE

Ankita Jain Tyagi became the third topper in the UPSC Civil Services Examination while her sister, Vaishali secured an All India Rank 21. For her success, Ankita credits it to her family and Vaishali, as the two are all set to become IAS officers.

It was the fourth attempt for Ankita as her husband Abhinav Tyagi, an IPS officer, helped her to prepare for the civil services examination.

Ankita and Vaishali said they shared notes with each other and helped each other stay motivated throughout their journey, and they said that it is crucial for the candidate to be familiar with the syllabus and keep their basics clear before appearing for the exam, a news outlet reported.

Ankita, who is the elder of the two sisters, said that the failed attempts in the exams helped her understand the exam pattern better. She prepared for UPSC while doing her job and said that doing both was not easy but she followed strict time management.

Vaishali said, in an interview with a news channel, that the UPSC preparations go beyond academics as mental strength and self-motivation also help candidates to crack the civil services exam.

Candidates should be aware of the syllabus and they should interlink it with everything they study, including newspapers, she said, adding that time management is also very crucial, and it should be different for both, mains and prelims.

Meanwhile, the third topper said that to crack the examinations, it is also very important to stay around people who motivate you.

To manage long preparation, Ankita said she used to set a target of certain hours and also get the most of the day.

Ankita and Vaishali said that it is very important to have conceptual and subject clarity, which can be attained by studying NCERT books, to clear the civil services exams.

They claimed, instead of multiple books, it’s about multiple revisions.
